Adhyapakar : Brahmasri Gururama Ghanapadigal
Brahmasri Gururama Ghanapadigal is a renowned vedic scholar qualified with Krishna Yajur veda Ghannantham under the guidance of Brahmasri Swaminatha Ghanapadigal and further qualified for Lakshanam, a part of Adhyayanam under the guidance of Brahmasri Jambunatha Ghanapadigal.
Sri Gururama Ghanapadigal had the inner passion ever since his childhood for teaching vedas (Adhyapanam), which was the starting point for establishing this veda patasala. After completing his Adhyayanam, he began working as a Vedic teacher at an institution, where he started nurturing young Vedic students. Nearly for 15 years he worked in several institutions teaching veda.
His vision of starting a Vedic Patasala gradually took shape when he began with just two students at his home in Chennai. However, due to certain challenges in the apartment, establishing the Patasala there proved difficult. This prompted him to relocate to Kumbakonam, where he rented a house and continued his efforts. Eventually, he settled in his own place, and today, 30 students are learning under his dedicated guidance. He believes that a self-contented life holds far greater value than the pursuit of wealth. Now, he leads a peaceful and fulfilling life, fully dedicated to the study and teaching of the Vedas, which has always been his deepest aspiration.
It is a sacrifice that parents make for a cause. Having trained in a gurukulam, I know the feelings on both sides and therefore was aware of the responsibility it places on the guru and his family, says the Ghanapadigal, who has been blessed by the Acharyas of both Kanchi and Sringeri.
My wife showers maternal affection on them and my daughter does not wish to enjoy any privileges that her brothers do not, he adds.
This sense of fulfillment has inspired Sri Gururama Ghanapadigal to seek a larger space to advance his mission. A plot of land near his current residence has been acquired, and construction is underway. With the support of a bank loan and contributions from generous well-wishers, the project has made significant progress, but additional funds are still required to complete the construction.
